In almost every Dubai home, the first drain to slow is either the kitchen sink or a bathroom floor gully, and for opposite reasons. The kitchen fills with fat and food that set hard on the pipe wall; the bathroom fills with hair bound up in soap and the limescale that the city's hard water leaves behind. Both narrow the pipe quietly until the water sits instead of draining. We treat each for what it actually is.
Hot oil goes down as a liquid and cools into a waxy layer that grabs coffee grounds and food. We clear the trap and jet the branch line back to the stack, so the whole run is clean rather than just the U-bend you can see. For homes that cook a lot, an occasional jet keeps the line clear and the smell away.
Hair and soap scum are the usual cause, often wrapped around the limescale already coating the pipe. We lift the grate or pop the trap, clear the clog properly rather than fishing the top of it, and flush the line so it drains fast again. If the smell returns after cleaning, we check the trap seal and vent, a dry trap in a guest bathroom is a common Dubai culprit.
Dubai's hard water leaves scale that roughens the pipe and catches everything passing through. Where build-up is heavy we descale with a rotating nozzle to take the bore back to size, so you're not re-clearing the same drain every few weeks.
